    I have been getting these calls for weeks as well, several times a day to my work phone and my cell phone.. usually from a Catherine Porter  who has also called my HR department, someone else in my department,  and my mother in law... Today I got one from a Bill Carrigan saying it was my final warning.. I wish!! I also wish I knew how to file charges and sue them for money for all the times they have broken laws with their phone calls, which I have saved.

    I have also received these calls from this # and other random #'s. Do not respond; they are FRAUD calls! If you are worried about money owed, contact the company you borrowed from directly. Collections don't work this way -- they must send you something in writing. I've been in banking/finance for 15+ years.

    These people called threaten me with a law suit or worst to pay a bill they will not send me proof that I owe. They have left threaten messages on my job and with family members. Not sure how they got my info. When I asked the man to send me something about the debt he stated it was not his place to do so and hung up. I have filed a complaint with the BBB in NY and with the FTC and the NY Regulatory Commission.....

    Consumers have reported that they have been contacted by individuals claiming to represent Insight Capital/TTG Services/M. Callahan & Associates, LLC using the representative name of "Brad Owens." The representative has called from telephone number 800-402-4043 and has been reported to threaten criminal charges for check fraud, and other behavior not compliant with federal and state collection agent laws.

    Efforts to obtain the identity of the individuals by contacting the telecommunications service provider were not successful.

    The Washington State Department of Financial Institutions (DFI) has no other verifiable leads regarding the identity or location of the perpetrators of this debt collection scam.

    Complainants have had some success contacting their local telephone carrier’s nuisance department to stop calls.

    How to Report -  If You're A Victim
    If you feel you have been victimized by these individuals, and you reside in Washington State, you may file a complaint with the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions by contacting the Consumer Services Division at 360-902-8703, or by filing a complaint at dfi.wa.gov/cs/complaint.htm.

    You may also file a complaint with the Consumer Protection Division of the Washington State Attorney General’s Office. For more information, See Filing a complaint at the Attorney General’s website at atg.wa.gov, or call toll free 1-80-551-4636 for assistance. (TTY: 1-800-276-9883).

    Collection Agencies Threatening You?
    Washington State law prohibits intimidating, threatening, or harassing conduct in connection with the collection of a debt.

    The Washington State Department of Licensing can take disciplinary action against a collection agency’s license if they violate the Washington State Collection Agency Act. If you feel your rights have been violated, call the Washington State Department of Licensing at 360-664-1421. File a complaint with the Department of Licensing at dol.wa.gov.

    These kinds of contacts should also be reported to federal law enforcement authorities.

    You may contact the Federal Bureau of Investigation online: fbi.gov or by telephone: (202) 324-3000.

    We also suggest contacting the Federal Trade Commission online: ftc.gov or toll free: 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357). (TTY: 1-866-653-4261).

    If the caller has indicated they may know private information, such as your Social Security number, other account numbers, or contact information for work or other associates, you should take steps to protect yourself against identity theft. There is information on the FTC website about steps to take to protect yourself from identity theft, and what to do to protect yourself in the event you are a victim of identity theft.

    Debt Collection Laws
    The Washington State Collection Agency Act, RCW 19.16: The Washington State Collection Agency Act took effect on January 1, 1972, and is enforced by the Department of Licensing and the Washington State Collection Agency Board. The law is intended to protect consumers and stop abusive practices by debt collectors.

    The law does:

    •Cover the collection of any business, personal, family, or household debt.
    •Apply to any person or business who solicits or collects debts owed to another for collection.
    •Apply to creditors who use a different name when collecting from their own debtors.
    •Apply to anyone who regularly collects or tries to collect debts for another.
    The law doesn’t:

    •Apply to banks, other lenders, or businesses that collect their own accounts using their own names.
    •Include individuals making collections in their own name that are directly related to the operation of a business other than a collection agency, such as:
    ◦Lawyers
    ◦Abstract companies doing an escrow business
    ◦Real estate brokers
    ◦Insurance companies
    Collection agencies aren’t allowed to disclose your debt to a third party, except under the specific circumstances in RCW 19.16.250(9).

    Collection agents aren’t allowed to misrepresent themselves:

    •By using any name other than the one listed on their collection agency license.
    •By using documents that appear to be judicial processes, government documents, telegrams, or emergency messages.
    •By wearing a badge or law enforcement uniform.
    •By implying they’re officially connected with any law enforcement or government agency.
    When contacting you, collection agencies aren’t allowed to:

    •Charge you for collect calls or telegram fees.
    •Contact you or your spouse more than 3 times a week.
    •Communicate with you at your workplace more than once a week.
    •Communicate with you or your spouse at your home before 7:30 a.m. or after 9 p.m., unless you request they contact you during alternate hours.
    •Use offensive language.
    •Make threats of force, violence, or criminal prosecution such as jail time or taking of personal property (doesn’t include filing a court case to obtain a judgment).
    •Threaten you with an impaired credit rating if you don’t pay the debt (doesn't include telling you the debt will be reported to a credit reporting agency, which may affect your credit rating).
    •Communicate directly with you if they’ve been notified in writing by your attorney to contact the attorney about your debt.
    Collection agents aren’t allowed to collect or try to collect:

    •Any additional fee not authorized by law (doesn’t include attorney’s fees and taxable court costs awarded by a judge).
    •On a written note, contract, or stipulation where you’re required to pay any amount other than the original debt, allowable interest, and applicable attorney’s fees and taxable court costs.

    Well peeps, looks like I'm one of the latest vics of this bs scam lol. Really glad I stumbled on this site. I haven't returned any calls, but each VM they leave seems like the threat gets more intimidating. Which reminds me, question: has anyone else here that listened to their VM's notice that at the very beginning of each message it seems like a garbled recording leading into the one meant for you? It's like the recording machine messed up and they had to start over lol! Such pathetic tactics. I'm gonna return their call and tell them that from now on when they call my number their calls will be forwarded to the local police station and that I'll be changing my number so they'll HAVE to send me something in writing. Oh wait *snaps fingers* I don't HAVE any debt to pay lol. Let's see if that helps, can't hurt to try anyway. But I'm still filing my complaints against them. These bottomfeeding, dirt bag, scum sucking puke chunks need to be stopped!!

    I got a call just like that for someone of a different name I called to let them know they had an obviously wrong number and the guy (Nick) asked me like 5 times if I knew the person and how to find them. Finally, I just interrupted him to say I dont know the person, stop harassing me and he hung up on me.

    got a call saying that if I don't return the call within 24 hours that they were turning over to the court.  Said fraudulent checks.  Called them back RUDE  had to leave a message

    I have received NUMEROUS calls from these guys.  They wanted to know if I was going to give them a call to offer "voluntary restitution" on my case.  When I call 877-252-0532, I am told my "caseworker" is BRAD OWENS.  Brad tells me to talk to his associate ANDREW OLSON.  Andrew told me they were calling due to an outstanding payday loan that I owed on & said that although they had not taken me to court yet, that if I did not make payment arrangements, that they would advise their in-house attorney to go ahead with the suit of over $4000 & plans to CHARGE ME WITH FRAUD for taking a loan I had no intention on paying back.  I told the caseworker that the only money owed to anyone, was due to a Veteran's Administration mistake.  He said, "the VA didn't sign on  the loan...YOU did."  After they called and threatened my 82 yr old parents, I tried calling AGAIN and couldn't reach them by putting in the first few letters of their last name (per their "auto attendant").  I then received a voicemail from number 866-402-4043...also claiming to be "Mark Callahan & Associates."  When I called back, I spoke to a hispanic gentleman who wouldn't give me his full name & who-when asked, WOULDN'T PROVIDE THE COMPANY ADDRESS.  When I told him that "Brad Owens said that HE was my caseworker," he said, "I don't know any Brad Owens...and if you can't provide me with a case number, there is obviously no deal made...so you HAVE to deal with ME.  When I told him that I had already explained to Brad that ALL my debts were listed in a VA investigation against an erroneously assigned fiduciary (not me), and explained to him that due to the amount of loans that the VA defaulted on in the one month they were assigned (11 loans total)...that I would not be able to pay their company more than $100 per month...so that at $100 each loan...I would be paying $1100 towards loans...leaving less than $100 each month towards groceries and doctor visits for me and my special needs son."  He responded with, "I don't want to hear your story...and now you have MY number."  He hung up & I was unable to reach him on callback.  Today, I received yet ANOTHER call from the 866 listing...this time from "Mark Byerworth."  When I looked up Mark Callahan & Callahan & Associates, I got THIS website as well as additional information for a Credit Attorney being:   Mark B. Callahan, Clark & Bradshaw, P.C., 92 North Liberty Street, Harrisonburg, VA 22802-3733, U.S.A.---Creditor Bankruptcy & Creditor Law.   I also found this listed on the internet:  "Payday loan consolidation and help:  More Sharing ServicesShare | Share on facebook Share on twitter Share on email Share on print:  M Callahan and Associates---I live in Pennsylvania. This company contacted me regarding a debt. They have called numerous times in the past two months and leave voice messages. I told him I would like a letter sent from them as I will not just agree to send money to a company without any paperwork.  He stated the original creditor sent me a letter months ago and they did not need to do this. I asked him for an address for his company and he would not provide this information. He basically stated that sending them a c/d letter means nothing because they are attorneys, not debt collectors. I thought that if an attorney was hired to collect on a debt in PA they are then considered the debt collector? Isn\'t this the case? He then stated that I COMMITTED FRAUD by breaching the original contract with the creditor. Is it fraud to not pay on an unsecured loan? Wouldn\'t fraud mean jail time? Can anyone provide any assistance on how to handle this company as this is the first time I have to deal with a debt collector? I have already filed complaints with the FTC, BBB and PA\'s AG. I\'m assuming they wont respond to any of the complaints. Also, does anyone have an address for them?     Got a hold of supposed "caseworker" BRAD OWENS with Callahan & Associates.  He said that if I was offering $400 or more dollars per month (with the 1st one payable TODAY from a debit card or checking account) on a "$4000 debt owed" that he could "consider" working with me.  When I reminded him that I had already offered the only $100 I had for this month's groceries and gas...unless he wanted me to give him my car or payment instead, he said, "That's crap!  If you don't pay your car, it'll get repossessed, and then how will you get us our money??? You owe over $4000!  At $100 a month, it would take you about 9 years to pay off!"  ---???--- Seriously "Brad"???  First of all, I'm a Disabled Veteran.  I would not need a car to pay off a debt.  Math lesson Mr. "Attorney" :  There are 12 months in a year.  At $100/month...$1200/year...$4000 would be paid off in 4 years...not 9.  Needless to say, "Brad" told me not to call him until I got closer to the $4000 amount, and hung up on me.  When I called back the number he had just called me on, despite the fact that the hours listed were from "8am to 8pm", the "auto attendant" wanted me to leave a message with "Mark Bowerworth."  Still no "bill" or "statement" for record.  Still no "address" so I can make good faith payments or at least keep ALL offerings in writing.  Hmmm.  Not like any collection or LEGAL call I have EVER encountered before...and considering I graduated with Honors as 3rd in my class: JAG (Judge Advocate General) in the military...I'd hope a little "proof" comes before some kind of non-served on hearing!!!

    Got another call at our office from Brad Owens who was rude each time to our customer service representatives. When I called to tell him he could not call our office again, he told me that our employee gave out this number for him to be reached at (not true). Then he went on & on about how he is our employee's legal counsel, not a debt collector, so he doesn't have to abide by any rules, he can call us all day & night if he wants to. Called me a few names & hung up on me/

    ITS NOT A SCAM...Registered Business Who Does Real Well For there 6 Clients

    It's Amazing the extent people/Consumers  will go to get out of paying there bills, Most Consumers who take out these loans are A. Dead Beats B. Credits already Shot C. Half of the Time they take it out in a relatives name. The Reason Family gets called is due to the fact on the loan application the consumer provides ref. #'s. If its on your Credit.....JUST PAY YOUR BILL......These Lending Company's literally review your application and give you the loan within 24-48 hours. So how does one find it acceptable to go 2 + years without paying......New's Flash Depending on State Law you can be sued....For a Judgement with a Lien and or Garnishment. The reason Payday Loans are so Big....Is due to the fact you don't need to have good credit.....So it's a different class of Consumer aka Debtor. My advice Pay Back your Loan and don't apply for any loans. If you need Cash take back Bottles/Cans.

    Called & said he just got a call from one of our employees but didn't have the right information about what we do here. He got very belligerant, yelling, & threatening me, telling me he was not calling from a collection agency so he could do what he wanted. Comes up as wireless call for an ID. Said he was from "EMG Company" Called 6 times AFTER he was informed to never call our company again. We also got a call from a Brad Owens of McCallister Company who said he was a legal advisor for one of our employees from ID "toll free" 866-402-4043. Same exact person, same yelling, threats, etc. After much research we found out that These are both SCAMS calling people to tell them they owe money & to get them to pay by yelling, screaming, threatening. They don't owe the money, but many people pay them thinking they do.

    Mr. Roberts work for the scammer's. This is fourth post I have come across a similar one is on debtconsolidationcare.com and 800 notes almost the exact same wording. DO NOT pay MR Roberts or M Callahan a dine unless the can provide you proof of the debt in writing. Believe me they won't be able to provide you with ANYTHING in writing. They are trying to scam you. Please know your rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Empower yourself and fight back. File complaints with the BBB and your State Attorney General Office. But please do not pay these people. Mr. Roberts is one of the scammer's please do not listen to him.

    I get calls everyday on my cellphone from 253 210 2820 but the message says to call 866 402 4043. They don't identify themselves. The message says that there are 2 counts of check fraud and malicious intent to defraud against my name, drivers license number, and social security number and insist that I call them within the next 24 hours or I'll be charged.  They say that they are filing a possible "stay of execution" with the clerk's office but doesn't that mean that they are working to prevent these so called "charges" against me? I looked into getting an online payday loan and shortly after found many unauthorized charges coming out of my bank account. They had sold my information and this is part of the scam. I had to close my account after over $500 was taken. I got it back but what a mess. These companies are vultures. This company is located in WA and they are just trying to scare/scam people into giving them money. They are not a law firm. They are a collection agency of the lowest form. They're aren't even a legitimate collection agency. I don't owe any payday loans. Legitimate collection agencies send you a letter with who the debt is owed to, the amount and what the settlement offer is. These people are just trying to scare people into giving them money and they are buying info from scums that collect our info when we are in a vulnerable situation possibly and sell it. Don't let them scare you they can't do anything. I would suggest you check your credit and make sure your identity hasn't been stolen though.

    I  spoke to an operator the first time who told me I owe Payday Max for bounced checks.  I told her
    I have an attorney call him..The second time they called my ex-husband while at work on his cell
    phone and left a recording in a threatening tone saying the same thing about me. I called them back
    today and spoke to a girl, I asked her where they are located and she said NY and that they have
    offices all over the country, she then put me on hold and never came back..Even though I did have
    past loans with Payday Max I don't think these people are legit and I don't know how they got my
    information, they seem to know an awful lot about me...It's Scary...

    Carol please do not pay these people wether you had a loan with PayDay MaxI I have been waiting for a month for something in writing they have yet to send it and continue to harrass me I just ignore the calls. I have filed complaints with the BBB and FTC both of which can be done on-line and only take a few minutes. Please take some time to read the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act you do have rights. Do not pay these people fight back and report them.

    I the same phone call on my home phone, saying I owe $ for check fraud and loan up to 386.00 I didn't return the phone call.  This the second time they called and I trace the # it's from Phx AZ local residential area.
