Incentivize goes to the White House
White House Roundtable on Used Electric Vehicle Tax Credit
On June 5th, Incentivize CEO Michael Kadish participated in a roundtable meeting at the White House, focusing on promoting the used EV tax credit to drive more adoption of used electric vehicles. This convening, hosted by the White House and the Treasury Department and led by John Podesta, Senior Advisor to the President for International Climate Policy, included industry leaders from Carvana, Carmax, Hertz, clean car advocates and state officials.
The meeting’s focus was the Inflation Reduction Act’s 25E used clean vehicle tax credit, designed to make used electric vehicles more affordable and accessible by providing up to $4,000 in tax credits to eligible buyers. As discussed in our recent blog post on used EVs, this has created some very affordable entry points to EV driving.
Key takeaways from the meeting:
Michael made the case that this benefit should not be considered alone in silo. Instead consumers should be informed about all the relevant state and local rebates available to them that could be stacked with the federal tax credit.
Over 13,000 dealerships are now offering this credit at the point of sale, significantly enhancing consumer savings and simplifying the buying process.
Online used car marketplaces such as Carvana, CarMax, Hertz Car Sales and Recharged, who were all present at the meeting, are working on ways to highlight the credit on their platforms, so consumers have more transparent information on take-home pricing and affordability.
Each company or organization present made a commitment to further the effort. Incentivize set a goal of forming over 50 new partnerships by December 2025. For more details on the White House meeting, please read the full readout here.
